Charlotte Church to perform at Rock Oyster Festival

Organisers of the Rock Oyster Festival have confirmed that international singer Charlotte Church will be appearing at the festival.

Headlining the Sunday music programme, Charlotte will also be playing songs from her new album at the prime lunchtime slot on the St Moritz stage.

Charlie Anderson, organiser of the boutique food and music festival which takes place at Dinham House in Rock, North Cornwall on 22 – 24 June, said: “We are delighted to announce a stunning addition to the music line up at the Rock Oyster Festival. We are very excited about Charlotte Church’s performance as she is guaranteed to put on a great show for the crowd.”

Charlotte Church shot to fame at the age of 11 with her version of ‘Pie Jesu’ and is now the world’s most successful classical crossover female artist. Her first album Voice of an Angel sold millions of copies worldwide and made her the youngest artist to have a number one album in the British classical crossover charts. She then went on to win a Classical BRIT Award for British Artist of the Year in 2000.

In 2005 Charlotte launched a pop career, gaining a number two with the single ‘Crazy Chick’ and was nominated for Best Female at the Brit Awards. She has since released two albums and hosted her own television programme on Channel 4: The Charlotte Church Show. Charlotte is currently working on new material and will be performing at various events throughout the summer.

The singer is the final piece of the jigsaw of the amazing line up of music acts set to perform over the festival weekend. The Dub Pistols, who were voted the best live act by DJ Magazine, are Friday night’s headliners, with Mercury Prize nominated The Bees headlining Saturday’s music entertainment.

Charlotte Church is performing at The Rock Oyster Festival on Sunday 24th June 2012.

Other acts performing on Friday 22 include: local folk, punk band Crowns who have recently secured a record deal; folk duo Phil Henry & Hannah Martin; and DJ act Hong Kong Ping Pong who are known as one of the most vibrant, unique acts in the South West.

Taking to the four different stages on Saturday 23 are Yes Sir Boss who bring with them a reputation as one of Britain’s most dynamic new live bands; critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Neil Halstead; acoustic folk singer Matthew P; and the dancey London Afrobeat Collective.

Charlie Anderson said: “We have a fantastic line up of bands who you will definitely be hearing about in the future, it is going to be a weekend of music not to be missed.”
