Revised dates for Thundercat World Championships at Watergate Bay

Organisers have announced a revised timetable for the Thundercat Racing World Championships at Watergate Bay this autumn.

The Extreme Academy will now be hosting the championships from Monday 7 to Wednesday 9 October. Monday 7 October will be a familiarisation day for competitors and heats will be held on Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 October.

30 teams from 12 countries including the UK, Canada, South Africa, Russia, Germany, Sweden and Norway will be competing in challenging conditions – which could see 10ft surf – at the two-day event.

Thundercats can reach speeds of up to 65mph and boats can sometimes jump up to 15ft into the air.

With a 50 horse power engine and lightweight inflatable hull, Thundercats can reach speeds of up to 65mph and boats can sometimes jump up to 15ft into the air. With all the races taking place just metres from the shore, spectators can easily watch all of the action.
