Cornwall’s only sandball tournament is returning to Watergate Bay in August for its second year.
Sandball, which is handball played on the beach, is a free-to-enter event taking place at Watergate Bay on Saturday 2 August 2014.
Organised by Newquay Handball Club, the tournament is open to anyone over the age of 16 regardless of experience or ability. Teams consist of three outfield players and a goalkeeper, however squads are ideally six to eight players.
Geoff Muskett of Newquay Handball said: “Beach handball is quite possibly the most fun you can have on the beach. It’s a fast end to end game which hates draws and rewards showboating. Sandball 2013 was a great day, a mini tournament attracting the likes of Aden Williams from the UK’s number one team, Salford.
“Handball is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK, with Newquay at the forefront, plus it’s the second most popular sport in Europe. The excitement of handball with our awesome beaches is a massive win!”
The tournament begins at 10:30am. Teams can either turn up on the day or enter by contacting Geoff Muskett by email: firstname.lastname@example.org or phone: 07983 567315.
