Porthleven restaurant unveils winter events

A Porthleven restaurant has announced a feast of special events to keep their customers smiling in the run up to the new year.

Perched on the harbourside, Amélies at the Smokehouse will hold a series of fun themed nights and weekly specials – including regular stew and curry nights – and parties inspired by the cuisine and culture of Italy and Latin America.

Owner Sam Sheffield-Dunstan says: “As it gets colder and darker, we want Amélies to be like a beacon of light and warmth. Our head chef Bruno’s stews, curries and pies are so good they’ll warm the cockles of the most cold-hearted curmudgeon.”

Amélies have organised a series of events in the run-up to Christmas.

The refurbished Smokehouse opened in March this year and has already put itself in the heart of the community raising money for local charity ShelterBox and taking part in events such as the Porthleven raft race, and the Porthleven pram race.

She says: “We’ve had a brilliant first summer and we really want to keep that momentum going into the party season. Our special nights are all about escaping the winter gloom, getting dressed up with a group of friends and having a great time.”

Tuesday nights at Amélies are homemade pie and ale nights. Priced at £12.50, you get a homemade pie with seasonal vegetables, hand cut chips and a bottle of your favourite ale.
